The majority of new jobs created in the U.S. are low-wage jobs. In recent Department of Labor industry surveys, wage and hour laws were found to be violated in 100 percent of poultry plants, 60 percent of nursing homes, 50 percent of restaurants, and 90 percent of farms employing farm labor.

Sweatshops aren't just in other countries and are not a thing of the past. They are in our backyards.

Some groups of workers, such as nursing home workers, and poultry workers, are so egregiously treated that Interfaith Worker Justice is focusing attention on the industry at large.
