The
Catholic Social Teaching (CST) summer internship is a 10-week internship program (travel and housing also covered) that will assist
students in building a solid foundation in the principles of Catholic
Social Teaching, teach skills in organizing, advocacy and social
analysis, and provide hands on experience in working to improve
the lives of workers.
Participants
in the CST internship will be assigned
to a local interfaith committee to work
on a wide range of issues, including
living wage, immigration, worker organizing,
and affordable health benefits.
Application
materials for Summer 2008 materials are
below. The deadline for applications is Tuesday, April 15, 2008.
Interns are expected to raise $4,000 to participate in the internship program. The first $1,000 is an administrative fee to IWJ that will cover flight expenses to and from Chicago, lodging, food, and transportation during orientation week and de-brief session at the end of the program. The $3,000 will be the intern's stipend (approx. $300/wk). IWJ offers technical assistance as well as helps identify sources of funding for interns (schools, religious denominations, etc.)
