An excerpt from the introduction to There is Power in Union by Aaron McEmrys: This is intended to be a simple, introductory guide for Unitarian Universalists who want to support Worker’s Rights. By Worker’ Rights, I mean the freedom of working people to be treated with respect and dignity, to have a voice in their working lives, equitable pay and benefits, safe working conditions, and the freedom to speak and act collectively without interference or fear of reprisal.

Before becoming a Unitarian Universalist Minister, I worked as a union organizer, educator and advocate. When I was organizing, I always hoped for more active support from clergy and congregations – and sometimes I got it! Support from Priests, ministers congregations and other religious people played a major role in many of our “victories” and comfort in our “losses.”
