Interfaith Coalition for Worker Justice of South Central Wisconsin - Strong turnout against bill to roll back living wage ordinance

A bill that would roll back components of living wage ordinances — including those in Madison and Dane County — was criticized by opponents during a public hearing Monday on the grounds it would harm workers providing services to vulnerable residents, and is morally unjust.

Sister Maureen McDonnell with Wisdom’s Well Spirituality Center and a director of the Interfaith Coalition for Worker Justice of South Central Wisconsin said the “dignity and rights of each individual” is central to the living wage debate. She described the bill offered by Republican lawmakers as one that “aims to dominate rather than serve people in society.”
