LOS ANGELES – Filipinos made a push for temporary protected status once again. This time it’s through a “thunderclap,” an online social movement that calls attention to social issues. If enough people support the cause through social media, the “thunderclap” would then become viral with the goal of getting officials’ attention.
“We ask them to donate posts, tweets, until we reach 250,” Malou Villacinseros, the communication coordinator for the Pilipino Workers Center, said. “We’re now at almost 400 and at a certain time, it creates a flash mob of people supporting TPS for Filipinos.”
